*** Please note! ***

The date for 2018 Yuletiders has now been fixed! 10 December 2018..

Contact the organisers now, to be added to the list of those who will receive an invitation, if you are over 65 and live in Linton

Yuletiders is an annual lunch that takes place each December in Linton Village Hall. There is plenty of good food, and drink, and good company. I think it is fair to say that a good time is had by all.. Entrance is by invitation, but it is completely free – the only conditions are that you live in Linton, and are over 65.

All the food is cooked and served by local volunteers. Drinks are provided too, you don’t even have to do the washing up, all is taken care of. Yuletiders is one of the things that marks Linton out as a special place, our community at its best. Would you like to come?

If you are a Linton resident and over 65, please do contact the organiser, Jane Sawyer or 01622 746659 for an invitation.

If you have had an invitation, please do reply to it! otherwise you may not get in 😉

If you can help by being a cook, a waitress or a washer-up please also get in touch. You do not have to be over 65 to volunteer .. here are some photos from the latest lunch, December 2017:

Coffee Morning! @ St Nicholas' Church, Linton
Jan 29 @ 9:30 am – 12:00 pm

A few of us have got together to organise regular coffee mornings for the village of Linton, and St Nicholas Church have welcomed us and let us use this fantastic building.  Linton Church is a key building in the community and it is wonderful to be able to welcome everyone to use the building for a relaxing few hours.   (You don’t have to come to church services to qualify!).  We serve fresh filter coffee, tea, bacon baps, homemade cakes, scones and sausage rolls.  These Community Coffee mornings are held on the last Tuesday of each month..   the next ones will be on Tuesday 25th October and Tuesday 27th November.

If you would like some more information we’d love to hear from you and we can even offer a lift if you wish.  Come on!  Give us a try!

Grand Linton Litterpick! @ Loddington Farm
Feb 2 @ 9:45 am – 12:00 pm

Grand Linton Litterpick!

Linton is a lovely, rural village and it is such a shame that it is disfigured by all the litter that thoughtless folk carelessly discard in our roads and country lanes.
In an effort to combat the litter Linton Parish Council has organised a series of litterpicks, which have now covered all of the roads in the Parish and many of the footpaths too. We have collected over 140 large bags of litter! A report of the last litterpick in October 2018 is available here.

We are going to have our fifth event on the morning of Saturday, 2nd February 2019. It will cover the lanes East of the A229: Loddington Lane, Stilebridge Lane, Butt Green Lane, as well as Heath Road and the A229 Linton Hill itself.

– start at 10am prompt, from Loddington Farm.
– all necessary equipment will be provided
– refreshments will be available afterwards
– the Borough Council will collect the litter bags

The event takes about two hours, a few volunteers may do a circular route from the starting point but most will be bussed to a starting point and then will walk back to Loddington Farm so we all finish there about 12 noon. Help (or a lift!) will be at hand if you need it, but you will be given full instructions .. no need get your hands dirty, or to lift fridges or other heavy items!

We get a lot of positive comments from volunteers – it is surprising just how satisfying it can be to fill a couple of bags with litter, and look back at a beautiful country lane that once again looks the way it should. If you are able to take part, please email Julie Urquhart.  The more volunteers we get, the easier the job becomes and the more clear it will be that we care about our village.

If you drive down Loddington Lane from Heath Road, Loddington Farm is the first farm entrance on the left about 200m down the lane

We will continue to have more events at regular intervals in future  – so watch this space!

Some of the helpers at the last litterpick, “grabbers” at the ready! . .

Important to get the paperwork straight .. if only we had someone who could do that!

Annual General Meeting – Friends of Linton Church @ St Nicholas' Church, Linton
Mar 27 @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

The Friends of Linton Church work behind the scenes, to make sure that the church is kept in good repair and is properly maintained. We are completely independent of the Church of England and separate from the church authorities and congregation, but we see St Nicholas’ Church as a lovely building which forms a central part of our village. We also feel it is fair that the cost of maintaining the church fabric should not fall entirely on the shoulders of the regular churchgoers, when we all benefit from having the traditional village centre of which St Nicholas is such an important part.

The Friends of Linton Church Annual Meeting will take place on this evening, in Linton Church. Why not come along and find out what we have been up to over the past year, and what is planned for the future? Please come along if you can.

This is a very worthwhile Linton Charity which is well worth supporting.. so please do help if you can. More details are here.

The Linton Cream Teas weekend in June is very popular ..
