Grand Linton Litterpick!
Linton is a lovely, rural village and it is such a shame that it is disfigured by all the litter that thoughtless folk carelessly discard in our roads and country lanes.
In an effort to combat the litter Linton Parish Council has organised a series of litterpicks, which have now covered all of the roads in the Parish and many of the footpaths too. We have collected over 100 large bags of litter!
We are going to have our fourth event on the morning of Saturday, 20 October 2018. It will cover the lanes West of the A229: Wheeler’s Lane, Redwall Lane, Cornwallis Avenue, Barnes Lane, Vanity Lane, Lacey’s Lane, Westerhill, and Bonfleur Lane. Berry Gardens Ltd have kindly agreed to host the event.
– start at 10am prompt, from Berry Gardens Ltd, Wares Farm.
– all necessary equipment will be provided
– refreshments will be available afterwards
– the Borough Council will collect the litter bags
The event takes about two hours, a few volunteers may do a circular route from the starting point but most will be bussed to a starting point and then will walk back to Wares Farm so we all finish there about 12 noon. Help (or a lift!) will be at hand if you need it, but you will be given full instructions .. no need get your hands dirty, or to lift fridges or other heavy items!
We get a lot of positive comments from volunteers – it is surprising just how satisfying it can be to fill a couple of bags with litter, and look back at a beautiful country lane that once again looks the way it should. If you are able to take part, please email Julie Urquhart. The more volunteers we get, the easier the job becomes and the more clear it will be that we care about our village.
If you drive into the main entrance of Wares Farm estate, and follow the road around the site, there will be a sign showing where to park.
We will continue to have more events at regular intervals in future – so watch this space!
