Grand Linton Litterpick – Now 2 March 2019

Due to the snow and ice last weekend, the litter pick scheduled for 2 February was cancelled. The litter pick will now take place on 2 March, when we hope the weather will be more favourable. Do come along and join us if you are free. All the necessary equipment is provided and filled bags are left at the roadside for Maidstone Borough Council to collect. We will meet at Loddington Farm, Loddington Lane at 9.50am. We’ll finish at 12 noon and refreshments will be available afterwards, with drinks provided by the Musket Brewery and burgers provided by Linton Park School.

To join the 2 March 2019 Litter Pick please contact Parish Councillor Julie Urquhart.

Grand Linton Litterpick!

Linton is a lovely, rural village and it is such a shame that it is disfigured by all the litter that thoughtless folk carelessly discard in our roads and country lanes.
In an effort to combat the litter Linton Parish Council has organised a series of litterpicks, which have now covered all of the roads in the Parish and many of the footpaths too. We have collected over 140 large bags of litter! A report of the last litterpick in October 2018 is available here.

We are going to have our fifth event on the morning of Saturday, 2nd February 2019. It will cover the lanes East of the A229: Loddington Lane, Stilebridge Lane, Butt Green Lane, as well as Heath Road and the A229 Linton Hill itself.

– start at 10am prompt, from Loddington Farm.
– all necessary equipment will be provided
– refreshments will be available afterwards
– the Borough Council will collect the litter bags

The event takes about two hours, a few volunteers may do a circular route from the starting point but most will be bussed to a starting point and then will walk back to Loddington Farm so we all finish there about 12 noon. Help (or a lift!) will be at hand if you need it, but you will be given full instructions .. no need get your hands dirty, or to lift fridges or other heavy items!

We get a lot of positive comments from volunteers – it is surprising just how satisfying it can be to fill a couple of bags with litter, and look back at a beautiful country lane that once again looks the way it should. If you are able to take part, please email Julie Urquhart.  The more volunteers we get, the easier the job becomes and the more clear it will be that we care about our village.

If you drive down Loddington Lane from Heath Road, Loddington Farm is the first farm entrance on the left about 200m down the lane

We will continue to have more events at regular intervals in future  – so watch this space!

Some of the helpers at the last litterpick, “grabbers” at the ready! . .

Important to get the paperwork straight .. if only we had someone who could do that!
